G'day and welcome to the Fountain Auction Academy.

Auctioneering is, to say the least, in my blood as both my father and grandfather were auctioneers and I have been plying the trade (and am still learning) for 44 years.

As an eleven year old boy growing up in rural New South Wales, with a father who was in his own right a formidable auctioneer, I was inspired by these words that were written and sung by country music legend (and now friend) LeRoy van Dyke as part of his hit record " The Auctioneer":

"And from that boy who went to school,
there grew a man who played it cool,
he came back home a full fledged auctioneer
And as the people came from miles around
Just to hear him make that rhythmic sound,
He filled their hearts with such a happy cheer
His fame spread out from shore to shore
he had all he could do and more,
had to buy a plane to get around"

Well, I did get to "have all I could do and more" and indeed did buy a plane to get around and the creation of my Academy comes simply from my desire to put something back into the industry that has been my love and passion.

About 20 years ago I had the dream to create it but, as with many things in life, the time and place were not right.

During my career I have had many opportunities to both work with and observe many of the best in the business, and it is through the medium of FAA that I hope I can repay some of the debt I owe life, and these people, for its experiences.

Our goal is simple. To produce practical professionals.

Our training courses are conducted on both a "general" area where students enroll for the course/s and on an office basis where the office contracts with FAA to provide regular within office training and follow up.

I hope that as the years pass and your career progresses, being an FAA graduate will amount to more than just a Certificate, and that by having passed through the Academy you have become not only a better practitioner of our art of auctioneering but also you will have gained standing as a professional and made good friends with leaders in the industry.

On my Rainbow Chaser website, you will find this quote of Lawrence of Arabia's and which has been a driving force within me since I first read it as a lad.

In his classic book "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" he wrote that -

"All men dream, but not equally. For the Dreamers of the Night awaken to find that it was merely their vanity. But the Dreamers of the Day are the dangerous ones, for they dream with their eyes open and they make things happen."

I would like to think that the Fountain Auction Academy will be full of such men and women! My partner, Sam Hudson and I are passionate about auctions and we very much welcome any enquiries you may have.
